What You Need to Know About the Oxford Test of English
What is the Oxford Test of English?
The Oxford Test of English is an online English test certified by the University of Oxford. You can take it from a test centre. It is accepted by universities and employers around the world.
Levels Covered
There are two versions of the test. The standard test covers levels A2, B1, and B2. The Advanced test covers levels B2 and C1. Both tests follow the CEFR scale, which is the international standard for measuring English level.
Adaptive Technology
The Reading and Listening parts of the test are adaptive. This means the questions get harder or easier depending on your answers. This makes the test faster and more accurate for your level.
Four Skills Tested
The test has four parts: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. You can take all four parts together, or you can take just one or two parts if you only need to improve a specific skill.
Scoring System
The standard test gives you a score between 0 and 140. The Advanced test gives you a score between 0 and 170. You get a separate result for each skill and an overall certificate if you complete all four parts.
Fast Results
Your Listening and Reading results are ready on the same day. Your Speaking and Writing results are usually ready within 5 working days. This makes it one of the fastest English certificates you can get.
